On the European level, Diamond Open Access is coordinated by the European Diamond Capacity Hub (EDCH), a collaborative platform that strengthens the entire Diamond Open Access ecosystem in Europe. It provides services and resources for Diamond OA publishers, service providers, and technology developers, and supports capacity building, training, and knowledge exchange across the scholarly communication landscape.
EDCH also coordinates the establishment and development of national Diamond OA centres, which play a key role in promoting sustainable, community-driven open access publishing at the national level. These centres act as local hubs, connecting institutions, publishers, and infrastructure providers, while aligning their efforts with the broader European strategy.
Currently, the network includes more than twenty national centers across Europe, such as:
- National Expertise Centre for Diamond Open Access (the Netherlands)
- Nordic Capacity Centre for Diamond Open Access
- Swedish Node for Diamond Open Access
- German Diamond Capacity Centre (SeDOA)
- and others
Within this European framework, the Czech National Centre for Diamond Open Access is being established by Masaryk University. The Centre coordinates Diamond OA activities in the Czech Republic, engages national institutions and publishers, and ensures that the Czech scholarly community contributes to and benefits from the shared European effort to promote open, inclusive, and sustainable scholarly publishing.
