The Czech National Capacity Centre for Diamond Open Access is being established by Masaryk University, which has decided to respond to the call from the coordinators of the European Diamond Capacity Hub. Its mission is to support the development of a fair, sustainable, and community-driven publishing ecosystem in the Czech Republic, fully aligned with European standards and the Action Plan for Diamond Open Access.

The Centre connects publishers, universities, libraries, research organisations, and other key stakeholders involved in the creation and dissemination of scientific knowledge. It aims to ensure that the results of publicly funded research remain a public good, not a commercial commodity.

Its main goals are to:

  • analyze the situation in Diamond Open Access publishing in the Czech Republic
  • foster collaboration and knowledge exchange among experts and other parties interested in Diamond Open Access,
  • strengthen the capacities of Czech institutions for Diamond Open Access publishing,
  • develop the technical, legal, and organisational foundations needed for Diamond OA,
  • and ensure political support and long-term sustainability of institutional open access scholarly publishing in the Czech Republic.

The Centre is part of the broader European network, the European Diamond Capacity Hub (EDCH), and cooperates closely with similar initiatives across Europe.
