First meeting of the National Capacity Centres meeting
On Tuesday, 19 May 2026, Warsaw hosted the historic first meeting of the network of National Capacity Centres for diamond open access (NCC Network), of which the Czech National Centre is a member. The network brings together national centres from more than twenty European countries that support the development of a non-profit model of scholarly communication. This is one of the key activities of the AEGIS-OA project.
The meeting introduced an action plan for the NCC Network, which will be updated on an ongoing basis and serves to track progress and provide an overview of activities. Current collaboration between national centres is focused on two main areas:
- The NCC Landscape Report, which aims to map the activities of individual national centres in supporting diamond OA. The report will facilitate the sharing of experience among centres and serve as an overview of activities for partners and organisations.
- The NCC Board Proposal, a discussion on the formal structure of the NCC Network, which will provide national centres with more effective coordination and better representation. A first draft of the structure is currently under review, and the final framework will be approved at the next NCC meeting at the end of July 2026. The first elections to the new structures are scheduled for September 2026.
We look forward to continued collaboration within the NCC Network and will keep you informed of its activities.
